About Coral Gables
Real Estate |
Coral Gables History and Coral Gables Real Estate
Coral Gables,
known as the “City Beautiful”, is one of the most livable
communities in the United States and was founded in 1925 by
developer George Merrick. Coral Gables features lush foliage,
suspended trees, a golf course, a waterway, civic plazas, arches
and a fountain has become one of Florida’s earliest and most
successful planned communities providing residents and visitors
with impeccable municipal services. Coral Gables has a
population of over 45,000 residents and is also known for strict
building and zoning codes, which have helped establish the
cities Mediterranean-style theme in the majority of the homes,
apartment complexes, offices and new shopping centers.
Incorporated in 1925, Coral Gables or "The Gables" is one of
Miami’s oldest planned communities. Famous for its
Mediterranean-styled architecture, Coral Gables is home to
42,871 residents (according to the 2004 Census estimate).
Referred to by many as the "City Beautiful"ť there is no
question of what makes the city of Coral Gables so beautiful.
Perhaps it is due to the city’s abundance of historical
landmarks, elegant residential areas lined by the city’s
notorious canopy tree covering, shopping districts, or the
University of Miami campus.
The University of Miami is another of Coral Gables Real Estate’
assets and the new Village of Merrick Park has become a major
shopping center right off of US-1 with well-known stores
including Neiman Marcus and Nordstrom. This has brought a new
wealth and excitement for the residents of Coral Gables to
enjoy. Miracle Mile is another attraction including galleries,
bookstores, home and entertainment shops, wedding boutiques and
new restaurants, as well as the Actor’s Playhouse, a thriving
local theater.
Another attractive feature that supports Coral Gables's regarded
title is its vast amount of immaculate landscaping and the
city’s charming tree canopy. In fact, more than 50,000 trees
shade the city’s 13.3 square miles and line the city’s bike
paths and walking trails, its 22 parks and 33 public tennis
courts, as well as two public golf courses. Coral Gables is also
home to 36 miles of pristine waterways and contains multiple
boating facilities to take full advantage of its abundance of
water.
Famous for its grand Miracle Mile, Coral Gables replicates a
European Old World style setting with its outdoor cafes and
international specialty boutiques. The downtown Coral Gables
area provides residents, business people and visitors with an
impressive shopping and dining experience amongst its 140
upscale dining establishments and shops amid a beautiful
tropical setting. |
